I got a decent string of fights today, unfortunately I won't be able to upload until the 27th (eve date) and kept cutting off the recording when I thought the fight was over, only to have them chase me and start it back up, so I'll either have to merge the videos into one or upload several files and let you guys do it. Will an upload on the 27th be ok? Would you rather assemble the recordings into one or shall I? |

Mail sent last night, last 2 of the uploads are running now and will be done soon*, but I won't be able to send links for about 10 hours due to work. It was a fun few fights looking for something worth submitting, I'll have to remember to carry pvp fittings in a depot more often.

A lot of the excitement has probably been lost (how many expansions have passed?) and some fights may no longer be relevant. Announce the winners, release what you have in 2 chunks (completed and work in progress), don't burn out, and build excitement back up for the second half with the first. |

I'd suggest announce all winners, release 2 videos now (I may not have been clear in my OP), one finished and one mostly done, polish the second and rerelease it later, no time pressure.
You bit off a attacked more than expected (especially with the time extension) and your reinforcements got bubbled 2 jumps out. It's no fun, but it happens. Do what you can now, polish the last half later and don't burn out. Get back to playing the game a bit, rumor is if you undock sometimes it can be fun. |

Right now the OMC team pretty much only owe anything to the people who had fights make it to win prizes because presumably they worked hard to get the footage they won with and many probably set out to get the footage with exactly this contest in mind. If the OMC crew wanted to pay out and shut down the project it'd be well within their rights to do it. So far only Teh Gaunt has a legitimate grievance. If you still feel outraged feel free not to watch. Remember also that had all of this been done as a collection of the best solo fights from a corp of solo players they could have released the video whenever they wanted and no one would have said a thing because they would not have known. I hope OMC doesn't shut down but if it did I will simply be slightly disappointed as I move on with life.
I shudder to imagine the entitlement you'd see where it was warranted. For example, if I were Chris Roberts and Star Citizen ends up as a failure I might consider a solo effort at colonizing the moon.
I will almost undoubtedly not see the video in the first few days as I will continue to check back here about once every 7-10 days and I will continue to do other things in the meantime. Release the thing whenever you are ready Miz, I will watch it then. The only thing you have to worry about is as time drags on more people will forget this is a thing.
Unfortunately, while I agree with the bulk of this, one key point is wrong: all submissions are under restriction because no one has been informed of their fight's status and thus risk losing prizes even if their fight is one of the hundred that don't get a prize.
It's not the winners that are hurt the most, it's everyone else that submitted a fight. |
